Expanding Wireless Broadband for Emergency Responders
How it Works
Portable Tower Systems with Non-Traditional Power

RespondComm is using alternative power sources to power communication, security and surveillance devices incorporated into a rapidly deployable platform. These mobile units can be deployed for several purposes. The coverage area of the network can be extended or holes in coverage filled using these units.

Perhaps the most intriguing purpose for these mobile units is to provide communications coverage and connectivity in circumstances where grid power and possibly communication infrastructures are not available or have been destroyed. Such circumstances arise from natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornados and ice storms. These communications and power grid outages could be caused by terrorist attacks as well.

Traditional response to power outages is designed around the use of generators that require diesel fuel and gasoline – which may be difficult or impossible to pump out of below ground storage tanks during a disaster. Non- traditional power sources such as solar, wind, and hydrogen have all been available, and in fact, abundant during the aftermath of such disasters. These power sources must now be considered for all recovery, backup and primary power planning when sustainability and always up communication and power is an absolute requirement.
