Short-term Objectives / Long-term Vision
The objectives of RespondComm are:
- Establish both stationary and deployable WiMAX
network infrastructure
- Incorporate rapidly deployable tower
platforms
- Leverage alternative power sources where
possible and appropriate
- Develop enhanced broadband applications
and capabilities specific to the public safety and emergency response
communities
The overall long-term vision for the project is to develop an
emergency communications test bed. This test bed will enable interoperability
trials and demonstrations using a broadband IP network, LMR gateways, emerging
signaling protocols, etc. Practitioners
and developers alike will be able to use the test bed for evaluation of
products and systems in the context of a fully operational deployment.
